Katie is a teacher turned tech integration specialist. After nearly ten years teaching abroad, Katie and her family currently live in Beaverton, Oregon. Katie has supported teachers and facilitated professional development in the Beaverton School District for the past four years. A graduate from MSU's educational technology master's program and ten years of infusing instruction and learning with technology has allowed Katie to effectively guide her colleagues as they work with devices in their classrooms. Three educational efforts Katie works on include computer science education, digital citizenship instruction and learning, and learning space design. Katie is a Code.org Fundamentals workshop trainer and has facilitated 20+ workshops. She is working to develop computer science standards for Oregon with OCSTA and is a member of the OCSTA board. She is also guiding work to develop a district wide K-12 computer science framework. Katie has consulted on the the design of school buildings, school libraries, makerspaces, and has indirectly impacted the design of classrooms throughout the Beaverton School District.
